Geochemisches Labor

Für die Analyse der Kohlenstoff-, organischer Kohlenstoff, Karbonat- und  Schwefelgehalte in Sedimentmassenproben in das geochemische Labor in der Heinrichstrasse 26 mit einem LECO C2-230 ausgestattet.

Diese geochemischen Proxy-Daten werden hauptsächlich in der palaeozeanischen und palaeolimnologischen Forschung als Indikator für die Oberflächenwasserproduktivität, Bodenwasser Sauerstoffanreicherung und Zufuhr durch Flüsse verwendet.

Einige Projekte, welche das LECO Gerät verwenden:

• Taxonomy and palecology of deep-sea foraminifers from the South Atlantic
• Millennial- to centennial-scale vegetation dynamics and surface water productivity during the Late Miocene in and around Lake Pannon
• Paleoceanography of the Central Paratethys during the Burdigalian and Langhian
• Integrated facies-analysis in the Oligocene and Early Miocene of the North Alpine Foreland Basin
• Paleonvironmental changes at the Cretaceous/Paleogene boundary in the Eastern Alps
• Devonian reefs in Austria
