LECO CS-230
The geochemical laboratory at Heinrichstrasse 26 is equipped with a LECO CS-230 for analysing the carbon, organic carbon, carbonate and sulphur content of sediment mass samples.
This geochemical proxy data is mainly used in palaeoceanic and palaeolimnological research as an indicator for surface water productivity, soil water oxygenation and riverine supply.
Some projects using the LECO device:
- Taxonomy and palecology of deep-sea foraminifers from the South Atlantic
- Millennial- to centennial-scale vegetation dynamics and surface water productivity during the Late Miocene in and around Lake Pannon
- Paleoceanography of the Central Paratethys during the Burdigalian and Langhian
- Integrated facies-analysis in the Oligocene and Early Miocene of the North Alpine Foreland Basin
- Paleonvironmental changes at the Cretaceous/Paleogene boundary in the Eastern Alps
- Devonian reefs in Austria
